GolemDrive Is Going Live Soon
GolemDrive is opening to the public soon — encrypted cloud storage where your files stay yours. Client-side AES-256-GCM, RSA-4096 key management, a 24-word recovery phrase, and a built-in AI assistant.
We’re about to open the doors. After a long stretch of building, GolemDrive — encrypted cloud storage where your files actually stay yours — is opening to the public.

If you’ve been on a waitlist or following along, here’s what’s coming and how to get ready.
Why we built it
Most cloud storage works on a simple bargain: you give the provider your files, the provider promises to take good care of them. The promise depends entirely on trust — trust that the company won’t look, won’t sell, won’t get breached, won’t get subpoenaed, won’t change its mind. The math has been bad for users for two decades.
We rebuilt the deal. With GolemDrive, your files are encrypted on your device, in your browser, before they ever cross the network. We never see plaintext. Even if our servers were fully compromised, an attacker would walk away with encrypted blobs they can’t open.
The encryption, briefly
The user-facing parts are calm. The crypto underneath is deliberate.
- Files are encrypted with AES-256-GCM — 32-byte keys, 12-byte nonces, AEAD authenticated encryption. Tampering is detectable, not just unreadable.
- Key management is RSA-4096. Per-user keypairs unlock per-file keys. Sharing a file means re-wrapping its key for the recipient’s public key — your private key never leaves your device.
- Your passphrase is stretched into your master key with Argon2id (64 MB memory, 4 threads, 32-byte output). Brute-force is expensive on purpose.
- Recovery is a 24-word recovery phrase generated at signup. It’s the one thing we cannot reset for you. Write it down. Store it well.
This isn’t a bolted-on “end-to-end” feature. It’s the foundation that everything else is built on.
What you’ll get on day one
- End-to-end encryption for every file you upload
- Share links — password-protected, time-limited, with download caps and access logs
- File previews — images, PDFs, documents, video, audio — all decrypted and rendered locally
- Folders, favorites, trash with restore
- Search — full-text and semantic, across your encrypted metadata
- Teams — invite members, assign roles, share securely
- AI assistant — a chatbox built into your dashboard with 200+ tools for finding files, organizing folders, managing shares, checking storage, and more, all through natural conversation. It streams results, asks before doing anything destructive, and works across files, teams, payments, and analytics.
- Creator pages — public profile, tip jar, monetize downloads
- Partner program — earn from your content via our CPM model
- Developer access — full CLI and an MCP server with 100+ tools and resources
- Mobile-ready — installable PWA, offline-capable
